22@Breakfast number 182 analyzes the importance of moving towards a design that integrates creativity with responsible production and consumption

Barcelona, September 26, 2024 – 22@Breakfast number 182, held on Thursday, September 26, addressed the convergence between innovation, efficiency and sustainability in the world of design. The event took place in the LCI building, the Barcelona School of Design, an institution that, in addition to being a creative reference, shares the key values of the 22@Network Barcelona: promoting collaboration to achieve more effective and far-reaching results.

Silvia Viudas, general director of LCI Education, was the first to speak and shared with the attendees the origins and evolution of this prestigious design school. Viudas highlighted the unique combination of tradition and avant-garde that characterizes LCI: "LCI begins in Europe, here in Barcelona, with the elegance of a fashion school and the technology and innovation provided by the Canadian group to which it belongs."

Isabel Sabadí, director of the association, began her speech by highlighting the importance of collaboration in moving towards a more sustainable and innovative design. “Today's main theme is exploring how creativity and technology can coexist, not only to improve processes, but also to minimize our environmental impact,” he explained. Furthermore, he stressed that “the search for a balance between tradition and future, between efficiency and creativity, is key to defining how we consume and create today.”

The 22@Breakfast featured two high-level presentations. The first was by Alessandro Manetti, Vice President for Europe at LCI Education, who spoke about the importance of "futurization" and the need to take a holistic approach when designing. “It is not just about predicting the future, but about starting to design the future that could interest us on a global level,” Manetti explained.

The speaker explained the difficulties of finding algorithms and technological tools that work with inspirations that come from the world of art, lifestyle, culture and entertainment, and explained how LCI has escaped this trend and has invested in future studies and development processes. design over the last five years, which has allowed us to develop an artificial intelligence algorithm capable of analyzing and quantifying annual trend reports.

Manetti also pointed out the key role of cities like Barcelona, spaces of expansion, attraction and inspiration: “We talk about design applied to diverse environments, with an increasing focus on urban environments, where cities not only expand, but also They inspire and attract.”

The second speaker who participated in the event was Horacio González-Aleman, CEO of Gospel Estudios, as innovator of the month. González-Aleman shared his brand's philosophy around responsibility in design and consumption and specified that his company defines itself as a "dependent brand", in the sense that it focuses on the process and all the people. involved in it.

Under its "Not ready to wear" concept, Gospel Estudios seeks to generate a transformative impact on the way consumers interact with its products. "Today, consumption is done without thinking. We try to turn this paradigm around and, through the consumption steps on our website, we include guidelines so that the customer relates to the garment slowly and reflects whether really wants to consume it," he explained. He defined his company as “a responsible brand” that learns from its “mistakes,” arguing that proclaiming itself as a sustainable brand is difficult given that this is a word “overused and misused.”

To conclude the event, Isabel Sabadí welcomed the new partners of 22@Network Barcelona: KPI, Marítim by Claror, Leyton, and Entre Trámites.
